Students allowed to live off campus must fall into certain categories. If you fall into one of the following categories, you may select to live off campus. If you do not fall into one of those categories, you will need to live on campus and will be redirected back to the original portion of the form. For extenuating circumstances that do not apply to one of these categories, please email housing@warren-wilson.edu.

  • Living with a parent/guardian
  • Living with a spouse or domestic partner
  • Living with a dependent child
  • "Financially Independent Status" based on your current FAFSA. (If you have not completed a FAFSA the Financial Aid office can help you determine your dependency status.)

To be considered a Day Student you will need to fill out the Request to Change Residential Status Form linked here. There is a day student fee of $500 per semester. Your request will be reviewed by Residence Life to see if you qualify for a residential living exemption. To access this form you will need to log into your MyWWC account.

You will be asked to still complete the entire housing application so that this information is present in the event that your request to be a day student is denied.

Meal Plans

Warren Wilson College offers three meal plans. All meal plans provide unlimited meals in Gladfelter which means that meals will be provided throughout the entire day and you can come and go as much as you want. If you prefer to eat in Cowpie Cafe (all vegetarian and mostly vegan/gluten-free), 1 scan per meal is available on all meal plans.

The difference between the plans is the amount of flexible money you will have to spend at the Owl's Nest (campus coffee shop and cafe).

Meal Plans:

Open dining - full meal plan with $25 flexible and declining balance per semester

Plus - full meal plan with $100 flexible and declining balance per semester

Premium - Full meal plan with $200 flexible and declining balance per semester

North Carolina State Tax is charged on meal plans, per NC Statute. The State of North Carolina imposes sales tax on meals sold to students at colleges and universities located in the state. As a result, flex dollars used in Gladfelter Dining Hall and Owl's Nest Cafe are subjected to sales tax at the time of purchase. Student accounts are charged sales tax for the open dining portion of the meal plan each semester.
